Overnight into Friday, drones attacked Russia’s Volgograd and Yaroslavl oblasts, where fuel and industrial sites may have been among the targets, according to regional officials and open-source reports.

The attacks were reported by Yaroslavl Oblast Gov. Mikhail Yevrayev and Volgograd Oblast Gov. Andrei Bocharov.

Yevrayev said most of the drones were shot down, but some struck sites where fuel was stored. A fire broke out there and emergency crews were working to put it out, he said. No casualties were reported.

He also said traffic was temporarily blocked “to guarantee safety” on the road out of Yaroslavl toward Moscow from the intersection of Moskovsky Avenue and the Southwestern Ring Road.

In Volgograd Oblast, authorities said civilian and energy infrastructure came under attack. In the Krasnooktyabrsky district, a residential apartment building was allegedly struck, leaving one person injured. The person was treated at the scene.

In addition, at a synthetic fiber plant in the town of Volzhsky, a 60-year-old man was killed and a 55-year-old woman was hospitalized in serious condition. Authorities also reported fires from what they described as falling drone debris at a chemical plant in Volzhsky, at fuel-and-energy facilities in southern Volgograd, and in several localized areas. They said all the fires had been contained.

The Telegram channel Astra said its OSINT analysis showed that the apartment building mentioned by the governor is located about 2 kilometers, or roughly 1.2 miles, from one of Russia’s largest defense-industrial enterprises, Federal Research and Production Center Titan-Barrikady JSC.

The plant produces launchers for strategic missile systems, including Yars, Topol-M and Sarmat. It also manufactures self-propelled launchers for the Iskander-M tactical missile system, heavy large-caliber artillery systems, naval artillery mounts and coastal anti-ship missile systems.

Astra also said the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery in Volgograd was on fire. According to the channel, this was at least the 10th attack on the refinery since the start of the full-scale war.

A drone-related fire was also reported in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. The regional operational headquarters said the blaze broke out on the grounds of the seaport in Temryuk.
