Ukraine brings home 10 soldiers listed as missing in action from Belarus

Ukraine brought home 10 service members from Belarus who had been listed as missing in action, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War reported on August 24.

The return took place on Ukraine’s Independence Day as the second stage of the latest prisoner exchange. On August 19, another 103 Ukrainian service members returned home.

The 10 soldiers returning from Belarus served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard and include soldiers, sailors and non-commissioned officers.

All of them fought in the Donetsk sector and had been considered missing in action.

The returned service members will receive medical care and rehabilitation, according to the Coordination Headquarters.

“We remember every man and woman who remains in captivity. We are searching for every name. And we will do everything to free them and bring them home,” Zelenskyy said.
