All of Lukoil’s major Russian refineries now offline after latest Ukrainian drone strike - Reuters
All of Russian oil giant Lukoil’s major refineries in Russia are now offline after the NORSI refinery halted crude processing following a Ukrainian drone attack, Reuters reported, citing three industry sources.
NORSI, Russia’s fourth-largest oil refinery and second-largest gasoline producer, suspended crude oil processing after the August 26 attack.
The sources told Reuters that several processing units, infrastructure connecting the units and other facilities at the refinery were damaged. It remains unclear how long repairs will take and when processing can resume.
Nizhny Novgorod Governor Gleb Nikitin confirmed that an unspecified industrial facility in the region had been damaged in a Ukrainian drone attack. Lukoil did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
NORSI can process around 15 million metric tons of crude oil annually and produce about 5 million tons of gasoline, more than 5 million tons of diesel, 2 million tons of fuel oil and around 500,000 tons of bitumen.
The shutdown means all of Lukoil’s major refineries in Russia are currently offline.
The company’s Perm refinery halted operations following a drone attack on August 21, while its Volgograd refinery suspended processing after an attack on July 31.
