Russia attacks Kyiv and Kharkiv with 165 drones, injuring at least 26, including 8 children
Russian forces attacked Kyiv and Kharkiv overnight on September 28, injuring at least 26 people, including eight children, Ukrainian officials said.
In Kharkiv, a Russian drone struck the second floor of an apartment building in the city's Saltivskyi district, damaging the second and third floors. At least 22 people were injured, including eight children, according to regional governor Oleh Syniehubov. None of the injuries were reported to be severe.
Four more people were injured in Kyiv's Podilskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service.
Fires also broke out in office buildings in the capital's Pecherskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts, but no casualties were reported there.
Later in the morning, a Russian drone struck a gas station in Kyiv's Obolonskyi district, damaging fuel pumps and starting a fire, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
Ukraine's Air Force said Russia launched 165 drones overnight, including Shahed attack drones, Gerbera drones and decoys. Of those, 79 were jet-powered drones.
As of 7 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had shot down or suppressed 112 drones. Strikes were recorded at 14 locations, while debris from intercepted drones fell at seven more.
The Air Force said the attack was still ongoing at the time of its morning update, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.
