Hobby drone found near Danish defense minister’s home prompts bomb squad response

Bomb disposal specialists, forensic officers and a military robot were deployed to the area in Søborg, while nearby roads were cordoned off and some residents were initially told to remain indoors.

Copenhagen West Police later confirmed that officers had recovered a drone and said it posed no danger.

“It was a hobby drone that was assessed as harmless, and there was no danger to residents in the area,” police said, adding that the incident would nevertheless be investigated further.

The incident comes two days after a Russian frigate fired two signal flares toward a Danish Air Force helicopter in international waters near Gedser. Denmark summoned the Russian ambassador over that separate incident.
