Russian drone attacks on Kyiv continue into daytime, injuring several and disrupting trains
Russian forces continued attacking Kyiv with drones into the daytime on August 27, injuring several people and disrupting rail traffic after a large-scale overnight attack on Ukraine.
At least two people were injured in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. In one case, a Russian drone fell onto a roadway, while a truck driver was also injured.
In the Pecherskyi district, a drone fell in an open area and sparked a grass fire. A sports complex was also damaged in the district, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The prolonged air raid alert has disrupted both long-distance and commuter rail services in and around the capital.
A train traveling from Sumy to Kyiv was running 17 hours behind schedule, while one commuter train was delayed by almost six hours, according to Ukrainian Railways.
People have been sheltering at Kyiv’s main railway station and in the city’s metro system during the alert.
Russia launched 258 drones, two Oniks anti-ship missiles, an undisclosed number of Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles and three S8000 Banderol cruise missiles at Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Air defenses intercepted or suppressed 222 drones, seven ballistic missiles, all three Banderol missiles and one Oniks missile.
