Drones struck an oil refinery in the city of Syzran, Samara Oblast, Russia, according to Samara Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Fedorischev.

He stated that the region faced a large-scale drone attack, prompting the closure of airspace and temporary restrictions on mobile internet. Russian air defenses reportedly neutralized 13 drones.

The Russian Telegram channel Astra reported that several explosions were heard near the oil refinery, where a fire subsequently broke out.

Emergency and operational services were deployed to the refinery overnight. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties.

Andriy Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, also confirmed the attack on the Syzran refinery.

The Syzran oil refinery, which was previously targeted in February and March 2025, has an annual processing capacity of 8.9 million tons of oil, making it a mid-sized facility in Russia.

It produces fuel, aviation kerosene, and bitumen, processing oil from Western Siberia and Samara Oblast. Kovalenko noted that refineries of this scale play a critical role in supplying fuel for the Russian military, forming a key part of its logistics chain.
