Drones strike Ryazan oil refinery in Russia, setting one of the country's largest fuel plants on fire
Explosions were heard in the Russian city of Ryazan overnight into Friday, as drones apparently struck one of Russia's largest fuel processing facilities, sparking a fire, Gov. Pavel Malkov and Telegram channels Exilenova+ and Astra reported.
Malkov said the attack damaged several residential buildings and the grounds of an industrial facility. OSINT analysts at Astra reported that the refinery caught fire following the strike.
This is not the first time the Ryazan refinery has come under drone attack.
The facility has a designed capacity of 17.1 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
Its products include 92-, 95-, 98- and 100-octane gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gases and other refined petroleum products. The plant produces an average of 840,000 metric tons of TS-1 aviation fuel annually — a grade also used by Russia's Aerospace Forces.
